Hearts and flowers

Yesterday I made a hanging heart using some of the fabric that I got off freecycle.  It's an organza type fabric, parts of which are shimmery.

I've been on the look out for signs of spring and came across these aconites in a little woodland we've got

These were a nice surprise because I'd forgotten that I got them off freecycle last year along with some bluebells.  If you click on the pictures to enlarge them you can see some twigs stuck in the ground in the one below.  That was my attempt to keep the rabbits off some cowslips.  I've got quite a few of these protecting foxgloves as well.

Here are some catkins

My snowdrops aren't flowering yet but here are some in the local grave yard

Good luck with the bunny barrier.......nice to have woodland to wander through.

I better keep an eye out for some changing leaves.

  3. I don't have aconites in my present garden. I rather miss them as the very first sign of spring, earlier even then snowdrops.

I must check out free cycle

  4. I love the heart, its so pretty and such a perfect shape! Spring is definately on the way, there are snowdrops everywhere here too, and this morning the hares were going wild in the field opposite, a sure sign of spring! Lovely pictures, especially the aconites, I haven't spied any yet, I must take a walk tomorrow and keep my eyes peeled!

  5. I spotted the snowdrops at work the other day and went "YAY!" internally. That must signal the start of spring. Can't wait.

  7. I can see my summer slipping away with your photos of your coming spring. Thanks for stopping by over at my blog. I also have another post about enabling your email so people can reply to comments (your email is not shown to anyone it's a great system) but what I really wanted to do was to talk with you about the whole chickens sex ratio. (and for any of you other people reading this comment....it's not what you think!) In normal circumstances of breeding the ratio is more even males to females but using the incubation method tends to produce more males to females. Apparently it's a temperature thing. That's what I've heard, I would imagine under the hen is more varied but an incubator would keep things pretty constant. But I will be sure to be researching more. We were pretty disappointed though to have such a high number of males in our last batch.

  9. I haven't had time to look at my garden properly for weeks. Seeing your post made me realise that I really must take time out to see what's popping up in there. I wouldn't want to miss all the action! Lots of love, my dear. xxxxx

  10. Hello, I've just dropped by quite by accident - found you whilst looking at a blog in Australia!!Your trip to Filey struck a chord - many family holidays were spent there as a child, I love your wee little mice, I have just been going through the labour pains of setting up a folksy shop (Mountain Ash!)so to find someone else in there is great and how did you construct that lovely fabric heart? I find I am developing a real liking for all the lovely ways people make them so much better than bunting for me. Its been lovely to meet you. Ash
