I've actually finished one of my UFOs. It's a shopping bag knitted from recycled carrier bags. One side is a sort of pastel rainbow effect and the other is black with brights and the gusset is just a mixture of colours. I plaited the handles.
I tried this ages ago but found the knitting way to tight, I used one inch strips and 15mm needles, you'll have to divulge the secret of your success, it's truly amazing! x
Thanks for your comments. It did take a long time to do because I knit very tightly and I'm a slow knitter anyway, but the plastic doesn't slide along the needles like wool does. It used loads and loads of carriers to make, way more than I thought it would.
Daisie, I used 6.5mm needles and one inch strips. The strips were cut across the bag so it formed a loop and they were joined together like you do elastic bands for a French skipping rope so there were no knots.
Hi, very clever and beautifully completed. Great to brighten up a gloomy day, it looks strong too. Well done ;o)
ReplyDeleteYowsers, what a great bag LBM.
ReplyDeleteIt must've taken quite a few bags to knit it up. Love the stripey effect and the colours.
Good use of bags too.
Enjoy your week.

OMG.....I love it, I'm wondering how many carriers it took to make, the stripey effect is amazing.
