Fancy a cup of tea and a biscuit?

Then if you're in England, just pop along to a blood donor session and you'll get a cuppa and biscuits afterwards.  Actually I always have hot chocolate, but there's a variety of beverages, hot and cold, plus my favourites - Club biscuits, (as well as other biscuits).
This is my arm afterwards

I couldn't go to my usual venue last week so today I went here -

The Keepmoat Stadium, home to Doncaster Rovers football team.  It made a lovely change to donate in somewhere new, and we were in a room on the second floor so had good views of the pitch on one side and a lake on the other.  I've booked in to go there next time because it's in November and I reckon it'll be a lot warmer there than the sports centre I usually go to. When I went last winter I was so cold that my blood only trickled out, and I was there ages.

On the way home I called at a pick-your-own farm for some strawberries and raspberries
there were more than this, but I ate some in the car, which along with the ones I quality controlled while I was picking them, means I'd had more than my fair share before I even got home!

I got some more weeding done yesterday and was rewarded with this lovely day lily today

  1. Well done for giving blood, I am unable as my little veins are so rubbish they colapse at the very sight of a needle and go into hiding!
The flowers in your garden look like they are enjoying a bit of sunshine there!

  3. Hey Georgia, doesn't it make you feel good to donate blood? Years ago, you used to get sausage rolls and party pies, yum. I used to go with a group of friends after work on Fridays............Now it's bikkies and cheese.......
Lovely to pick your own strawberries and raspberries, they look yummy and that Day Lily is such a gorgeous colour.
A fine morning here, no frost but there are some clouds around, hmmmm!! Hope there's no rain around I have an outdoor market tomorrow.

  5. How brave of you to give blood. I am terrified of needles. I can't even watch my kids getting injections. My knees go weak. It's almost like the same panic I get from height phobia. In the past I was lucky I never had to give blood because my weight was too low but now that I've met the required bulk, I have to own up to being a coward.

  8. It's such a good thing to give blood. I used to before I got too ancient and they didn't want mine any more. Got a badge with two little hearts on it - they don't give them out any more either. They never used to put any choccy biscuits on the plate though - just rich tea and those little oblong ones - 'Nice' biscuits :(

  9. Hello there, Thank you for the reminder of how important it is to donate blood. It has been a long time since I have donated. Also thank you our lovely comment about my dragonfly photo. I am so happy that you appreciate his beauty . . . his wings are magnificent. What an awesome God we have. When He creates, He does it with so much love and beauty . . . look at us . . . and know that He also created us perfectly formed in His image. Wow!
Have a marvelous day, Connie :)

  10. Yummy, strawberries and raspberries are some of my favourite fruit. Those punnets would have been empty if they'd been on my lap!! Weeding is never ending, but when the flowers come out makes it worth it.

  12. You have made my day, with the comment you left on my blog. . . it takes a lot of courage to stop looking at ourselves an always having this drive to be perfect. We do not expect perfection from the ones we love and care about, yet we think that we will not be excepted until we are perfect. I do not believe that we should be selfish or in love with yourselves, but I do think that we should love yourselves enough that we let ourselves enjoy the same things that we freely give to those we love. Each day is a day to jump into and enjoy to the fullest. Each day is a new chance that is gone when the day is over. I wish you many marvelous courageous free spirited days. Your blogging sister, Connie :)
