Bird watching

We've got Blue Tits nesting in the tractor bucket arm again this year.  Last year was the first time any had taken up residence there.  You can read about it here if you weren't around then.
Before they arrived, my husband had put the doll's head on the tractor, but that obviously didn't put them off.
You can see one flying in front of the back tractor wheel in this photo, going towards the hole in the arm

Here's Mum and Dad together

They weren't bothered by my presence and I got nearer and nearer to them until Spaghetti (our cat) turned up, then all hell broke loose.  They retired to a nearby tree, loudly proclaiming that there was a cat about, joined by a Thrush on the house roof and a couple of Pied Wagtails.  Of course the more I tried to get her to go away the more she came round me so I had to give up.

If you want to see a video of something similar, but involving a Robin and hens,  check out this post

  1. How nice to have them back again.....

I'm sure the doll's head would've scared me off, I think I actually knew someone that looked like her! And yes, I found her quite scarey...

Had to revisit those videos......Mr. Robin certainly let everyone know what he was thinking, hehe....

    Have a great weekend Georgia,

    CLaire :}

  2. That doll's head is a fantastic way to scare off tractor thieves. Creepy doesn't cover it!

  3. How gorgeous to have those little birds nesting in the same place again. The doll's head adds a nice touch to tractor decoration. :)
Thanks for all your lovely comments on my blog travels. It makes my day when I receive comments. At least I know I'm not talking to myself. :)
    Have a fabulous day,
    Anne xx
P.S. Will be on English soil on Sunday. Can't wait!!!

  4. Great photos, the head is a little scary but the birds are wonderful, what a grand home they have!

  5. That's so lovely that they've come back! i wonder if it's the same pair?

I think hubbys doll head would have freaked me out a bit though! lol

    Happy jubilee weekend my dear.
    have a lovely break.
    Donna xx

  6. I love those pictures. Just waiting now for the little ones to hatch. I saw a wood pecker today. Never seen one here before. He was climbing up a telegraph pole in the field just outside my kitchen window. Wish I'd had my camera to hand - it was fascinating just watching him peck peck on bits of the pole.

  7. THe photo with the doll head is hilarious!
