A walk home from the shop

This morning I took a walk to the village Post Office which is about a mile and a half away and called at the shop.
It was really surreal being able to walk down the middle of a road which is usually pretty busy with cars and lorries, and when any vehicles did come along they were strangely quiet in the snow.  At the same time there was an unusual amount of people about, clearing their drives or walking - it all felt very strange indeed.
To add to this, the weather was incredible.  There was bright sunshine and a blue sky and yet fog at the same time!  I took a long detour back to see if I could capture some of it on camera and here is a selection -

Frost covered grass and plant -

Here's one to show how blue the sky was

  1. I'm so enjoying looking at everyone's snow photos. We've got pitiful amounts here AND it's really grey and boring. Very jealous of you with proper snow and lovely blue skies.

  2. Fantastic images, the last couple look like the wastelands of Siberia, but not quite as cold one hopes.

  3. Fantastic photos! Some of them are amazing!
I like your sons snowman too:)
I went shopping at our local supermarket tonight, and there were so few people about for a minute Ithought it was Christmas eve what with the lack of people & food!
    Have a great weekend!
    Kind regards,

  5. Amazingly atmospheric pictures. We had a similar day yesterday, with some little ice flakes floating in the air, glittering in the sunlight. Sadly I had forgotten to take my camera with me when out shopping.

  6. Oh, we had that glittering in the sunlight but I couldn't capture it on camera. I didn't know it was little flakes of ice - I liked to think it was fairy dust! But then it was such a weird day. All the people clearing their drives were within the last few feet of reaching the road so of course passed the time of day with me. I felt like I was in my own version of The Truman Show!
