On the mend

Everyone's slowly recovering after the fox attack three weeks ago.
Lotto and the hens hardly moved for a couple of weeks but they've started going outside now.  Bree is pretty much back to normal apart from having no feathers on her back but she looks OK because her wings cover it.
Here she is scratting about in the grass

Octavia is a bit unsteady so she's not as active as Bree and Lotto still has a long way to go.  He's a lot better than he was and has moments of lifting his head right up and looking quite normal apart from the lack of feathers, but then it slowly goes back down but remains a couple of inches off the floor.  At least now he's eating and drinking by himself.

I took a chair out into the field to keep an eye on them today.  It's been incredibly windy but with lovely sunshine and fluffy white clouds in the sky.
I noticed a bird fly into a hole in the tractor and tried to get a photo but kept missing it.  This photo is to show the sky but you can just see a round hole in the bend of the bucket arm

Here's a close up

And a very blurred one of the bird emerging from the hole

It was flying about so quickly I couldn't see what it was, but from my brilliant photo I think it might be a blue tit!  I'll have to have another go.

I'll leave you with a photo of a sat nav bag I made yesterday with a yellow and blue spotted car.

  2. What a gorgeous day it was, love all those fluffy clouds.
I'm glad to hear the hens are recovering and I hope Lotto continues to get better. I must ask how he came to be called Lotto, I'm sure there's a story in it......

Your SatNav bag is very cute, good idea too.

    Enjoy your week,

    Claire :}

  3. Glad we never had the trauma of foxes when we had hens just a bumbling labrador!! Wonder what my mad collie now would have made of them - she's ok with my rabbits - as long as they are secure in the run!!

  4. Glad to hear the chickens are on the mend. It must have been very traumatic for them! The sky is so beautiful. We have been so busy again this weekend, I haven't had as much time as I would have liked to enjoy it. Its very nice again today though, so hopefully I can have some time later to appreciate it. I think its a bluetit too. What a nice cosy and safe place to nest if it is!
Lovely bag too, I love those little cars you do!

  6. Oh I'm so sorry to hear that your lovely chickens were attacked - for some reason your blog won't appear in my reader and I had no idea. They look like they are recovering well though. Mine were also attacked by something and were very frightened and just sat around for days. They've really picked up now though and are back to their cheeky antics.

The car on your sat nav cover looks a lot like the one my mum had when I was growing up.
