Ain't no stopping me now

I've been hunting through mine and my husband's wardrobes for items to refashion and have come up with a few things.
This t-shirt of my husband's is way too small for him now and it looked simple to alter so I decided to start with it.

I removed the sleeves, then laid a t-shirt of mine on top and cut it out down the sides and along the bottom, allowing extra for sewing up.  I hemmed what was the sleeve seam to form cap sleeves and sewed up the sides.
It wasn't until I'd started cutting it out that I noticed the side seams were twisted.  There was no way I could straighten them up, so I cut it out as it was, which resulted in a slanting bit of the old seam at the bottom of each side.  After sewing the new side seams, this formed a small wedge shape at the sides which  I emphasised  by sewing a button to the top.
I finished the neckline with a small tab and a couple of buttons, and hemmed the bottom.

  4. I love reinventing our old clothes. I'm in the process of changing a man's checked shirt into a trendy shirt-dress a la Toast's new season! xxx

  6. Great makeover. I don't sew anymore, but when I was in college, I re-fashioned often. It's amazing what you can come up with when you have the mind to do it! This was a great one!

  9. Ooh it's fab! I notice that a lot of tshirts seem to be made with weird side seams nowadays. And pj bottoms are mad too. There's probably some technical reason for this but I don't understand it. Just makes them annoying to iron.

  15. Oh, I have only just found your link from MQ's blog, Little Blue Mouse. I have a T shirt from a cycling weekend where they were all one size, XL. I look like Annie the Orphan so I am going to take a leaf out of your book and customise it. It will have to keep the logo at the front so must give it some thought. I thought it would be too warm for wearing in bed.

Love the bag but I wonder if my husband's work jeans are just far too 'mechanic'ed' to use, as he slides under cars in a garage with a non-painted floor.
